Beauty in bloom
Poppies are unique. They do not produce nectar; but release pollen, which rises into the air at the slightest gust of wind. They are some of my favourite flowers. Subtle and airy, they are very dear to me. They used to grow in front of my house and as a little girl I enjoyed watching them bloom.
Subtle charm
I decided to capture their subtle charm. On a delicate satin surface with a marble pattern, I applied a linear drawing of poppy flowers in various stages of bloom, stroked with a platinum thread. The collection combines warm beiges and cool greys into a cohesive image. It is framed by lamellae, which complete the arrangement and bring the cosy charm of wood into the interior.
