TUBĄDZIN WRAPS UP A SUCCESSFUL 2020. INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT DESPITE THE PANDEMIC

January 14, 2021

The Tubądzin Group had the most unpredictable year since the beginning of its existence. However, the Group was able to use it for agile management, investment, as well as helping the local community and achieving sales goals.

THE LARGEST EMPLOYER AND DONOR IN THE REGION

For the Tubądzin Group, the year 2020 was - as for the whole industry - full of surprises and difficulties, however - thanks to loyalty, brand loyalty and support of its customers and contractors, the company can talk about success. After severe government restrictions and a lockdown of the economy in Q2, Tubądzin returned to 100% production capacity, which is significant for the largest employer in the region, and all orders are being delivered so far without delays. For the Tubądzin Group, the priority is to take care of safety, health and jobs for its staff, while maintaining an internal sanitary regime. Tubądzin also focuses on uninterrupted contact with its business partners, so that they can deliver on time the projects or investments they have started.

The greatest success of the Tubądzin Group in a year full of unforeseen changes was the maintenance of employment, lack of redundancies and the ability to support the local community in the fight against the pandemic. The company also maintained its sales growth.

"None of us could have predicted the epidemiological situation in the country. However, thanks to it we learned a few things about our industry, our customers and ourselves. For the first weeks, the exclusive priority was to maintain the staff, continuity of production and cost optimization. Today, I can say with great satisfaction that in 2020, the Tubądzin Group fulfilled all its business objectives, starting from maintaining and even increasing the number of employees, sales plans and investments in the company's infrastructure ." says Amadeusz Kowalski, Vice-President of the Tubądzin Group Management Board. And ads "We export our products to 60 countries and the difficulties related not only to border traffic, but also to the large trade restrictions in other countries were a challenge for us. This would not have been possible, however, if our customers and partners had not shown us trust and support, for which I would like to thank all our partners. It is also worth mentioning the joint aid actions in the industry. I very much appreciate that we were able to join in supplying the necessary equipment to medical and assistance facilities, it is a valuable lesson for the industry. Unfortunately, 2021 still looks as a chain of imponderables in business terms. The word 'depression' is being repeated more and more often, and it will certainly not pass us by, so the question is how badly will it affect us? For today no one is able to answer, the vaccine that appeared at the end of the year is a "light at the end of the tunnel", so you have to be of good thoughts and look optimistically into the future. As a Group we are not slowing down, we are planning this year a number of new implementations and expansion of production capacity, we believe that with good products and strong relationships with our business partners we are able to overcome this difficult pandemic time."

The Tubądzin Foundation donated two ventilators, together with the necessary oxygen cylinders, to the Primate Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Hospital in Sieradz. Moreover, together with many other companies from the sector, Tubądzin united forces and joined the action "We are together. We Help. " The company donated a total of 31,000 surgical masks and 1,300 visors to local facilities in support of the fight against coronavirus. They were used by medical staff in hospitals, firefighters during rescue operations and carers in the Nursing Home in Sieradz. They were also distributed among institutions in Łódź - the Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital Centre and the Mikołaj Kopernik Provincial Specialist Hospital. Masks were also given to the Health Care Complex in Łęczyca, the Karol Marcinkowski University Hospital in Zielona Góra and the Mayor of Borne Sulinowo.

Despite unfavourable circumstances for physical activity, the company has not forgotten about local sports clubs. In 2020, it also provided funds to the Sieradz sports club KS Warta Sieradz and the Football Academy.

PREMIERE OF NEW COLLECTIONS AND AWARDS

The company has met its sales targets by continually developing its product portfolio. Four latest bathroom collections designed by Maciej Zień - Gleam, Lucid, Scoria and Sheen, in 33 x 90 cm format, had their premiere at 4 Design Days fair in Katowice. This time, the designer turned not only towards precious stones, which he accustomed his clients to, but also offered them luxurious, splendid solutions. Tubądzin also showed decorations for the Cielo e Terra collection by Dorota Koziara - mosaics and very fashionable hexagonal tiles.

In the middle of the year, Tubądzin presented the first proposal of the new MONOLITH collection, which were long awaited by its clients - Marmo D'Oro. The tiles faithfully reflect the texture of white marble, at the same time bringing to mind the kintsugi technique (repairing broken ceramics by re-connecting its pieces with powdered gold or other precious metal). The collection turned out to be a hit, perfectly accepted by architects, distributors and customers.

It is also worth mentioning the proposals which Ceramika Tubądzin implemented in autumn. These are the four 33 x 90 cm collections - Brainstorm, Grunge, Curio and Coma. At the end of the year, the latter two were nominated for the EU 2020 Pearls of Ceramics in the premium wall tile category. The Tin collection, MONOLITH's latest offering, was nominated in the large format tiles category.

INVESTMENT PROJECTS

Tubądzin is not afraid of challenges and focuses on growth, despite unpredictable times. The expansion of the Logistics Centre in Cedrowice, which cost PLN 80 million, is a guarantee of even better customer service. In its new shape, it will become one of the largest and most modern logistics centres of its kind in the industry and the country. The project significantly increases the logistic capabilities of servicing our business partners.

Full automation and personalized IT systems responsible for warehouse management are able to determine future tile demand based on orders. The most advanced technologies provide completely new quality and comfort. Above all, they also double the company's distribution capabilities and shorten the lead time, while making maximum use of the warehouse space. The office space, which is no longer sufficient, will also increase as the Tubądzin Group grows.

In 2021, further large investments are planned in the company's production facilities, worth PLN 120 million.

Thanks to its actions, the Tubądzin Group and its President, Mirosław Jędrzejczyk, were among the companies awarded the title of the Construction Industry Creator of the Year by the Publishing House of the Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers. The award was given to the company for its significant impact on the development of the construction industry and innovative investments.

EXPORTS AND FOREIGN ACTIVITIES

Activities abroad include not only exports to 60 countries around the world (from China, Mongolia, through New Zealand, to the USA, Mexico and Canada), but also activities with the architectural industry outside Poland. The successes of “Tubądzin Arena Design - Wellbeing” programme in 2019 in Ukraine and Hungary resulted in huge demand from the architectural industry for events integrating the environment in our part of Europe. In the first quarter of 2020, before the pandemic made travel impossible, five events took place as part of Tubądzin Arena Design in Ukraine and Moldova. Scheduled Tubądzin Arena Design meetings in Kaliningrad, Budapest and Odessa

had to be temporarily cancelled as a result of the pandemic.

In November, Tubądzin, together with its local partner, Todoceram, opened
a new, impressive showroom in Romania. Oradea, which name can be translated as "Great Varadia", is one of the most developed cities in the country. The whole showroom area is about 1000 m2, of which the space of Tubądzin Ceramics occupies over 40%. Customers will find be able to see absolute novelties - collections in 33 x 90 cm format (Curio, Grunge, Brainstorm and Coma collections), tiles designed by Maciej Zień and the latest large-format products - in bathroom cubicle arrangements and on displays. The Torano collection from the MONOLITH brand can also be seen on the floor throughout the showroom.

In the new competition category, Future NOW, which is a response to the pandemic reality, the jury awarded projects from remote parts of the world - Iran, Brazil and Malaysia. However, among the winners there were also Polish architects. The winners presented designs reflecting or anticipating the needs and solutions for future generations that can be implemented today.

NEW FORMULA FOR THE TUBĄDZIN DESIGN DAYS

The fifth, virtual edition of the series of events has moved online with great success. 9 outstanding experts, 3 meetings and hundreds of thousands of views showed how the debates on the future of the industry are needed. Guests included Professor Jerzy Hausner, Jacek Santorski, Maciej Zień and Zuzanna Skalska. In its traditional version, the event accompanies the international Tubądzin Design Awards competition. Previous editions were held in many Polish cities and the aim of each of them was a dialogue between representatives of the architectural industry and meetings with experts and specialists, as well as networking between designers and architects, research into the needs of the environment and mutual education. The innovation of this year's edition, apart from moving it online, was also the broadening of the spectrum of thematic meetings to include economic issues.
